DALTON: A public apology

I want to apologize to the Dalton Gardens Mayor Steve Roberge and the City Council for signing the recall petition. I made a mistake! At the time, I did not have all of the facts.

A couple of months ago a person came to my door asking me to sign the Dalton recall petition. They were very adamant that the mayor and City Council needed to be removed because they were going against the law in allowing a unique, one time division of a 5-acre parcel. She said the council’s decision would result in Dalton Gardens losing its 1-acre minimum building covenant and would ultimately result in the installation of a sewer system.

Since signing the petition, I have learned that this unique property in question was legally divided by Kootenai County in 1975 and taxed accordingly. This unique development will in no way threaten or change the current 1-acre minimum building covenant. Also, per Panhandle Health District, this property spilt will not in any way change Dalton’s current septic status to a sewer system.
