At the event, the Junior Chiefs will face international teams, as well as teams from Canada and the U.S. The Junior Chiefs, competing under the umbrella of the Spokane Area Youth Hockey Association, has a record of 36-6-1 this season, facing teams from Utah, Oregon, Montana and British Columbia to date. It has been more than 20 years since a Spokane team has been asked to participate in this tournament. The last time Spokane sent a 10U team to Fargo for this event, one of the members of that team was Tysen Azevedo, now 30, and the head coach of the current team. One of the assistant coaches is Lee Nagle of Post Falls, who started coaching three of these boys -- Landon Nagle, David Aggen (Coeur d’Alene) and Matthew Latscha (Coeur d’Alene) -- when they were 5 years old in Coeur d’Alene. The team has started a Facebook page titled Spokane Jr. Chiefs 10U A-1.
