LEVIES: Show some outrage

| January 13, 2019 12:00 AM

Where was the strong editorial and opinion reaction to the posting of pro-levy posters by school district personnel at polling places a few years ago? Why wasn’t there a demand for a new vote? Cliff Hayes was furious, but the paper’s article was milquetoast.

The “cheating” every two years of thousands of votes by having levy elections in March rather than the fall. Saying the March vote is principally for fiscal timing is not true. If you add up the “yes” levy votes, they add up to district and government employees, spouses with a few friends and relatives thrown in. Levy votes are “not” an “honest” community vote. If the Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy can operate on a 23 percent support budget and pay teachers more, why are we accepting that over 51 percent of Coeur d’Alene School District employees are not teachers?

Teaching our children to “lie” and “cheat” is far more worthy of investigation! Bigger Tandy Hall here!
