Former Post Falls standout Glenn
joins Vandal men’s golf team
MOSCOW — Post Falls High School graduate Joseph Glenn is set to join the Idaho men’s golf program.
Glenn was the 2016 5A Region 1 champion as a senior before serving a two-year church mission. He will enroll in the spring and be eligible to compete immediately as a freshman.
“I’m really excited to welcome Joseph to our team this spring,” Idaho coach David Nuhn said. “I recruited him out of high school but he was committed to serving his mission so we left the option open once he returned. He showed the same level of skill at an event this fall and I am confident Joseph will contribute to our team on and off the course right away.”
Glenn led Post Falls to its best run in boys’ golf in school history. The Trojans took fourth and fifth at the Idaho 5A state tournament in his final two years, the program’s top all-time finishes. Glenn posted the best scoring average on the team each of his final three years, including the lowest scoring average in the region as a senior. He won the regional title as a senior by four strokes before going on to finish in a tie for sixth at state.
On the junior golf circuit, Glenn picked up wins in Arizona, Idaho and Washington.
Glenn plans to pursue a degree in finance at Idaho.
Hachimura lands on
Wooden Top 25 list
Gonzaga men’s basketball’s Rui Hachimura was named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 list, announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Wednesday. The award is presented to the nation’s most outstanding basketball player.
Chosen by a poll of national college basketball experts, the midseason list is comprised of 25 student-athletes who are front-runners for the sport’s most prestigious honor, based on their performances during the first half of the 2018-19 season.
Hachimura is averaging a team-high 21.4 points per game, which ranks third in the West Coast Conference. He is eighth in the conference shooting 59.5 percent from the field and 10th grabbing 6.4 rebounds per game. The junior has scored in double-digits in each of GU’s 16 games this season, and has reached double-digits in the last 18 games dating back to last season. Hachimura has scored at least 20 points in 11 games this season. He also has 15 steals and 11 blocks through 16 games. The Toyama, Japan native, was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Maui Invitational after leading the Bulldogs to the tournament’s title.
Vandal football adds
linebacker Miller
MOSCOW — Idaho football signed junior college linebacker Robert Miller to a financial aid agreement, head coach Paul Petrino announced. Miller is enrolled at Idaho for the spring semester and began classes Wednesday. He will enter the fall as a redshirt junior with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Miller played in all 21 games during his two seasons at Northwest Mississippi Community College after transferring from Memphis, where he redshirted in 2016. He helped the Rangers to 16 wins, two playoff appearances and one bowl game in two seasons. For his career, Miller recorded 94 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks. He also forced one fumble, recovered two and broke up five passes. Prior to his sophomore campaign, Miller was named to the JCGridiron Outside Linebacker Watch List.
Prior to Northwest Mississippi, Miller was rated as a two-star safety at Olive Branch High School. He racked up 118 tackles, seven TFLs, two sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery as a senior.
