Coeur d'Alene uses pressure to rally past Lakeland
RATHDRUM — Trailing on the road at halftime, the Coeur d’Alene boys basketball turned up the pressure and achieved its desired result.
The Vikings outscored host Lakeland 39-22 after intermission to earn a 61-46 nonconference victory on Tuesday night at Hawk Court.
“In the third quarter, they put some ball pressure on us and we didn’t execute very well against it,” assistant coach Tyrel Derrick said. “Give them credit, they just competed really hard and we couldn’t match them.”
Drew Hostetter led all scorers with 23 points for the Vikings (8-3), who host Lake City in the Fight for the Fish game on Friday night. Devon Johnson added 12 points for CHS.
Jalen Skalskiy had 15 points for Lakeland (4-6), which hosts Moscow on Thursday in a key 4A Inland Empire League matchup.

COLBERT, Wash. — Jonny Hillman poured in 41 points as the Jaguars avenged a three-point loss to the Crusaders at home last month.
Hillman hit three 3-pointers and went 16 of 21 from the free-throw line for Genesis Prep (5-6). Kon Ajang added eight points, seven rebounds and three steals for the Jaguars, who travel to Lakeside on Friday.

HARRISON FLATS — Gage Maitland scored 13 points and Triston Usdrowski added 12 points for the Warriors in a North Star League win over the Tigers.
“We got set up in a half-court press and got a few steals out of that early on,” Kootenai coach Mike Maitland said. “We were a little flat tonight and missed quite a few shots. We came out in a funk for a little bit and it was probably our most helter skelter game we’ve played this year.”
Kootenai (5-1, 1-1 NSL) travels to Clark Fork on Thursday.
Luke Trogden scored 13 points for Mullan (4-5, 1-2), which hosts Wallace on Friday at the Mullan Pavilion.
