BALLOTS: Timing suspicious

An out of the blue recount of ballots for which there has been no concern or complaint. This wild hair demand occurring only days after several letters appeared in this paper acknowledging the competence and integrity of Carrie Phillips. Mr. Brannon asked her to resign after 17 years heading the elections office successfully and without controversy. The printed expressions on the faces of those elections office employees speak volumes.

It appears Brannon’s non-professional perceived personality differences with Phillips have destroyed the morale of this well-run critical county office. It has cost a woman her livelihood and right before Christmas, I might add. What will this dismissal and recount without probable cause cost the taxpayers of this county, Mr. Brannon? This taxpayer believes it is you who needs to resign and Ms. Phillips reinstated with an apology.
