SCHOOLS: Support Cd'A requests

| February 27, 2019 12:00 AM

On Tuesday, March 12, voters in Coeur d’Alene have an opportunity to go to the polls and vote for continued excellence in our public schools.

Due to a lack of funding for public education at the state level, our district must run a levy every two years. Levy dollars are critical to maintaining the quality public education the students in our district receive. The essential levy will fund such programs as music and performing arts, classroom instructional aides, school security and mental health support. A yes vote for the levy will finance education without raising our tax rates.

Nearly one fourth of our school district’s budget comes from the levy. I’ve been a proud parent, volunteer and advocate in the Coeur d’Alene School District for 10 years. Our community is fortunate to have dedicated teachers and exceptional public schools. Having a quarter of our educational programs and resources stripped from our schools is unimaginable. I encourage all voters to support our public schools with a yes vote on March 12.
