COEUR d’ALENE — The League of Women Voters of Kootenai County is hosting “Equity and Economics of Education,” a public forum, on Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Coeur d’Alene Public Library Community Room.

The public forum will have a special focus on early childhood education and information about the upcoming March 12 Coeur d’Alene Supplemental Levy election.

Three panelists and subjects will address the topics of equity and economics of education:

- A look at full-day kindergarten with Steven Cook, superintendent of the Coeur d’Alene School District.

- Local economic impact studies of day care and preschool costs on families with Keri Stark, community impact director of United Way of North Idaho.

- Information about the upcoming March 12 Supplemental Levy vote with Traci Hanks of Coeur d’Alene Education Partnership.

Public participation is highly encouraged.

“We welcome participants of all walks of life and political affiliations to bring their questions, life experiences and community concerns. We especially encourage those with children to attend to share their perspective,” said the League of Women Voters’ announcement of the event.

A child care activity with a trained early childhood educator is available at the Children’s Library craft room to accommodate the participation of working families. The League of Women Voters will assist with voter registration and absentee ballot request forms at the event.
