Coeur d'Alene, Lakeland fall in regional loser-out games

LEWISTON — Coeur d’Alene did almost everything it had to do on the road to get another regional win in Booth Hall.

Then Lewiston called on Kash.

Kash Lang scored a go-ahead basket with 10 seconds remaining in overtime to push the Bengals past the Vikings 82-81 in the 5A Region 1 second-place game on Friday.

Drew Hostetter led four Coeur d’Alene players in double figures with 22 points. Kale Edwards scored 20, Devon Johnson 16 and Carter Friesz 10 for the Vikings, who finish 13-8.

Donaven Santana scored 36 points for Lewiston (11-12), which advances to a state play-in game today against Capital of Boise today at Grangeville High starting at 3 p.m.

Coeur d’Alene has not qualified for state since 2012.

MOSCOW — Ben Zubaly scored 18 points for the Hawks, but a 20-point night by Gabe Quinnett helped the Bears sweep the best-of-3 4A Region 1 championship series to advance to the state 4A tournament starting next Thursday at Borah High in Boise.

Lakeland finishes 9-12.

Moscow (19-3) opens at state against Vallivue (15-5) at 5:15 p.m. PST.
