Tell us about yourself

Generation:

This is a tough one. I've basically felt 40 my entire life so I think I'm just now catching up to that. Does that make me a wanna-be-baby-boomer?

Business and community involvement:

Owner/operator of AHA! Creative (local graphic design and print shop) and The Traveling T (gypsy road show providing screenprinting on site for festivals and events). Regularly collaborating with local nonprofits and public schools such as Emerge, North Idaho Pride Alliance and Kootenai County Young Professionals.

Parental status:

So many kids. Three boys to be exact. And two dogs.

1. What artistic fulfillment do you get as the owner of your business, AHA! Creative?

We are lucky enough to print what we design. We get the opportunity to work with a company on developing their brand and then printing and producing all of the collateral to go with it. It's really exciting to help a business promote their image in a way that represents their own unique personality and attracts their ideal clients. We aren't just designers behind a computer; we get to see, feel and deliver the actual finished goods.

2. What advice would you give to someone who is interested in starting their own business?

Hang. In. There. That is what Feast or Famine is all about. Sometimes you have a lot … and sometimes you have barely anything … but if you can hang in there through those seasons, listen to your gut and say no when it doesn't feel right, the money always follows.

3. What is your favorite piece or design you've ever created?

That's a TOUGH one! I think that the Feast or Famine brand is what makes me most proud. It is our passion project that celebrates all of the entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, students and hustlers out there. It is the Insiders-Club for those who often feel so alone in the struggles of self-employment. I still get goose bumps when we get to hand a piece of Feast or Famine swag to someone and for once they see someone recognize what they go through in their own pursuits.

4. What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

I actually went to school for video production and early childhood education. Turns out I was way too early for YouTube and way too controlling for early childhood education. Also, I am the undefeated champion of "Dr. Mario."

5. If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be and why?

Hammer pants. I don't believe in leggings as pants, and joggers are like turtlenecks for your legs, therefore Hammer pants would be the next in line for overall versatility and uninhibited movement.
