Dana Pannell, 77

Dana A. Pannell gained eternal rest on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019. He was surrounded by his loved ones in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Dana was born on Aug. 7, 1941, in Austin, Texas, to the late Raymond and Valeria (Davis) Pannell. He was joined in holy matrimony to his cherished wife of 42 years, Barbara (Newton) Pannell, in Anchorage, Alaska, on April 29, 1971. Dana now joins Barbara in heaven, as she passed on June 27, 2013.

Dana is survived by his three children: Sean Teninty of Moorpark, Calif., Penny Teninty-Grizzle of Woodstock, Ga. and Cheri Zao of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; two granddaughters, Heather Swope and Lauren Corley; and one great-granddaughter, Mary Swope. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, JoAnn Brookshire.

Dana graduated from the University of North Texas in 1966. He then served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his service, Dana had a long and successful career of over 40 years. He initially retired form S.C. Johnson Wax after 20 years. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Coeur d’Alene, where he worked at Catalyst Industries before permanently retiring.

Dana had a soft spot in his heart for the under-resourced, and volunteered at the Lake City Church food bank. He also loved to fish, target shoot and spend time with his family and friends.

A visitation will be held between 2 and 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., with a celebration of life service immediately following from 4 to 5 p.m. Pastor Dave Roberts will officiate.
