Travis Swallow

Swallow, a junior defender from Lake City High, was named to the national CoSIDA Academic All-America team, the school announced on Dec. 5. Swallow is one of 33 Division II men’s soccer student-athletes selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and factors in both classroom and on-field performance. A third-team honoree in 2018, Swallow was named to the second team this year after compiling a 3.98 grade point average in business administration. He was a fixture on the Falcons back line and had two assists, both of them in victories and started all 14 games for the team, one of only three to open every outing on the field this season. Swallow his three goals and three assists in his career.

Klaire Mitchell

Mitchell, a 5-foot-7 setter from Lake City High, was named the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, the Antelopes third pick since joining the conference in 2012. Mitchell led the team in assists with 1,013 in the regular season (finished with 1,085), the second-highest in the regular season in the program’s history with a season-high 56 assists against Ball State on Sept. 6. That effort tied for the second-most assists in a GCU Division I match. Mitchell was second in the conference with 9.56 assists per set and had 293 digs, second on the team. Grand Canyon finished the season 24-6.

Josee Bassett

Bassett, a senior defender from Coeur d’Alene High, was named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the school announced Dec. 4. Bassett was named to the first team, one of 12 women’s soccer players to earn the honor. In the classroom, Bassett holds a 3.90 grade point average in the nursing program at Eastern Oregon. This year, Bassett has been in one of the most time consuming portion of her degree, but has maintained outstanding grades while taking her play on the field to another level. As a senior captain, Bassett finished the season with three goals and four assists for 10 points, including two game-winning goals — all career-highs. Eastern Oregon finished the season 16-3-4, advancing to the NAIA quarterfinals.

Garrett White

White, a 6-foot-5 sophomore guard/forward, averaged a league high 27.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per game for Spokane in the team’s first five games of the season, and was named the conference’s Player of the Week on Dec. 4. White had 38 points and 11 rebounds against Everett on Nov. 30, then had 16 points and eight rebounds against Lower Columbia College on Dec. 1, later being named Red Devil Classic Most Valuable Player. “Garrett had a great weekend at Lower Columbia College, helping us win the Red Devil Classic with wins over Southwest Oregon, Everett and Lower Columbia,” Spokane coach Jeremy Groth said. “He had games of 25, 38 and 16 points while shooting 62 percent (33 for 53) from the field and 58 percent (7 of 12) from the 3-point line, while also averaging more than nine rebounds per game. Garrett is an exteremely hard worker on the court and in the classroom and we are so happy for him to see all of his hard work pay off.”

Rewers, a 6-foot-4 junior center from Lake City High, has started all 10 games for the Warriors (5-5), averaging 7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
