Holiday craft fairs and bazaars

Every year, artists and crafters alike toil in their workshops — much like a certain someone and his certain helpers — to create special and unique items to gift to those we love. Below is a list of some of the places those items can be found. Consider purchasing one-of-a-kind handcrafted goods locally when shopping this holiday season.

Today

9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | North Idaho College, Siebert Building #180, 430 N. College Drive. NIC Aspiring Artists Club and NIC Ceramic students’ Holiday Ceramics Sale. A unique opportunity to purchase affordable ceramic art for Christmas gifts.

Saturday, Dec. 7

8 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Peace Lutheran Church, 8134 N. Meyer Road, Post Falls. Featuring homemade candy and cookies by the pound, handmade crafts, Christmas treasures, beautiful quilts made by the church quilting group, raffles for elegant Christmas items and homemade soups, sandwiches and desserts for lunch.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth St. 15th Annual Fair Trade Sale. Fair Trade means fair wages to support people and families in developing countries. Support them by buying their handmade products, thus allowing them to buy food, education and medical attention.

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Community Presbyterian Church, 417 N. William St., Post Falls. Enjoy homemade cinnamon rolls at 9 a.m. and a soup lunch served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.,

candy and cookies sold by the pound, arts and crafts by many vendors and a visit from Mrs. Claus.

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Athol Community Center, 30355 N. Third St. 2nd Annual Artisan Fair. Includes handmade goat milk soaps, handspun fiber goods, quilts, Christmas ornaments, gnomes, nativity scenes, hand-burned wood items, specialty food items and more. Bring the kids for cookies with Santa from 1 to 3 p.m.

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 501 E. Wallace Ave. Annual Snowflake Faire, featuring lots of baked goods, a treasure trove of collectibles, homemade crafts, and a lunch of soups and pies.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | New Life Church, 6068 W. Hayden Ave. Christmas Market presented by Classical Christian Academy. There will be various local vendors and CCA school clubs with booths, along with a cake walk and other fun games for the kids!

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Rathdrum Senior Center, 8037 Montana St. 1st Annual Holly Jolly Craft Market. Loaded with very talented local crafters, artisans and a few direct sales. A DJ will play Christmas carols while you shop, and house-made chili will be available to warm you up. Support our Bake sale to help a local student raise money for her Washington, D.C., field trip. Donations to the Rathdrum food bank will be collected.

Sunday, Dec. 8

1 to 6 p.m. | Bestland Senior Living, 606 E. Best Ave. Bestland’s Christmas Bazaar, featuring local vendors and crafters, a used book sale, baked delights, raffles and door prizes. Lunch will also be available.

Saturday, Dec. 14

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Bestland Senior Living, 606 E. Best Ave. Bestland’s Christmas Bazaar, featuring local vendors and crafters, a used book sale, baked delights, raffles and door prizes. Lunch will also be available.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Greensferry Landing HOA, 2544 E. Ferry Landing, Post Falls. Christmas Market Craft Show. There will be a wide variety of beautiful hand made items that will be a great addition for you and your home and/or to complete your shopping list! There will be earrings, necklaces, fabric wreaths, rice bags, wire ornaments, holiday mug gift sets, suncatchers, painted wine glass sets, up-cycled bird feeders, baked goods and much more!

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Kootenai County Fairgrounds, Jacklin Building, 4056 N. Government Way. Kootenai County Farmers Market Winter Market. Over 70 vendors selling produce, honey, breads, jams and jellies, meat, eggs, milk and cheese. Find gift items from local artisans and crafters, plus plants and Christmas decorations. Enjoy live music and free homemade cookies. Free admission and parking.
