Michael Dennis Kirsch, 44

Michael Dennis Kirsch, 44, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away at his home on Oct. 19, 2019, after a 14-month battle with cancer. Mike was born in Coeur d’Alene on May 7, 1975, to parents Richard Kirsch and Sandra (Knox) Kirsch. He was raised in Coeur d’Alene and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1994. He worked at Burger King there for several years. In 2001, he helped with the grand opening of WalMart in Post Falls, and worked there until his passing. He met the love of his life while working at WalMart. Kathleen Marmon was a fellow employee and they knew each other for several years before they dated. They began dating in 2008 and were married on July 23, 2010, at the Hitching Post, in Coeur d’Alene, with family and friends. Upon getting married, Mike became an instant dad and grandpa and came to be known as “Pappy” to his grandchildren.

Mike was known for being a quiet guy, but once you got to know him, it was clear that he was loving and had a great sense of humor. He loved to play practical jokes on his fellow co-workers. He enjoyed reading, MMA, remote control cars, surfing the internet on his computer and he was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan. He had a great love for animals, especially cats, as they had seven indoor cats. Mike loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed having them come over a lot.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leslie Kirsch (2012); uncle, David Knox (2012) and his favorite cat, Titus, who passed away Oct. 3, 2019 (shortly before Mike’s passing). Mike is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his parents Rich and Sandy Kirsch of Post Falls; sister, Tammy Holzer and nephew, Dylan Holzer of San Diego; grandmother, Joan France of Coeur d’Alene; children Chet Marmon and Melissa (Jack) Marmon; grandchildren Cameron, Taylor, Madison, Makenzie and Rylee of Post Falls; aunts Vonja Knox of Medford, Ore., Cheri (Juan) Munoz of Seattle, Teri Lindenberg of Coeur d’Alene and Kathy (Ron) Isbell of Tempe, Ariz., and several other extended family members.

In honor of Mike’s memory, donations may be made to the Kootenai Humane Society or Hospice of North Idaho.
