TRAINS: City on right track

| December 1, 2019 12:00 AM

Train horns? Thank God Mayor Jacobson and the City Council saw through this whining. The money needed for surveys, surveys and more surveys would be astronomical and would be better used for purchase of another street sweeper.

We’ve all heard it before: People who buy a home near airports, railways, military bases and such, complain about noise. Why would you buy a home near anything you hate so much? We bought our home near the railway and do not mind it at all even though we were aware of its existence.

I suggest Ms. Cook gather all the people who signed her petition, pool their money and pay for overpasses and tunnels for railway crossings that were probably here before she was. This is a safety issue, not an inconvenience issue. Tax dollars collected from the citizens should be used, in part, for maintaining what is already in place.
