Hendrick named head
golf pro at Circling Raven
WORLEY — Circling Raven Golf Club has hired Scott Hendrick to be its head golf professional.
Hendrick previously worked as Golf Operations Supervisor at Canyons Park, Utah, a Vail Resorts property.
Canyons Golf is an 18-hole course designed by Gene Bates, who authored Circling Raven’s acclaimed layout.
“Gene had nothing but great things to say about Scott, and they’re all true,” said David Christenson, Circling Raven’s Director of Golf. “He’s a sharp professional and a skilled golf and business manager who understands what it takes to run a first-class golf resort course that exceeds guest expectations.”
“Gene raved about Circling Raven; I’ve got great respect him, and he’s an amazing golf course architect,” said Hendrick, who graduated from University of Utah with a bachelor of science degree in marketing. “Now that I’ve been here a few weeks, it’s clear that he wasn’t exaggerating in his praise for the golf club. First, no courses use 620 acres for their layout. Kudos to the Coeur d’Alene Tribe for using some of its land so exquisitely. This place is a natural wonderland with an extremely fine golf experience and outstanding operations team at its core. I see why it’s ranked No. 1 in Idaho, and I’m honored to be here.”

LPGA Tour member Ferrero
named Idaho women’s
golf coach
MOSCOW — The University of Idaho hired Lisa Ferrero as its women’s golf head coach.
Ferrero comes to the Vandals after two seasons leading the women’s golf program at Towson. She is currently a member of the LPGA Tour.
In her first three weeks at Towson, the Tigers broke every school record and claimed her first tournament title. By the end of the 2018 spring season Towson took third at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, the best finish in school history and bested the program’s previous best score at the tournament by 54 strokes.
Ferrero has also spent the last 10 years teaching professionally in the offseason as a Class A LPGA instructor.
Ferrero is a 12-year member of the LPGA and Symetra Tours, winning two tournaments on the Symetra Tour in 2011. She was also the recipient of the 2014 Heather Farr LPGA Courage Award.
Ferrero won the USGA Junior Amateur Championship in 2000 and a year later was named the California Amateur of the Year. She went on to play collegiately at Texas, where she helped the Longhorns win the 2004 Big 12 title and place in the top six at the NCAA Championships three times, including a second-place showing in 2002.
Ferrero replaces Lisa Johnson, who left to become the head coach at Nebraska after 11 seasons with the Vandals.

EWU board to act on stadium
task force recommendations
CHENEY — The task force charged with conducting a comprehensive study of a possible football stadium renovation project at Eastern Washington University has completed its work and will make its recommendation to the university’s Board of Trustees during a special meeting at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, in Tawanka Hall on the EWU campus.

Renderings of the proposed stadium renovation plan are expected to be unveiled at the meeting, which will include presentations from ALSC Architects of Spokane and Vice President for University Advancement Barb Richey.
