RIGHT: Claims to be Christian

| August 28, 2019 1:00 AM

On page A7, of the Aug. 21 issue, we’re told how “Trump steadily fulfills goals on religious right wish list.”

Interesting subject, the religious right and their agenda. But it seems the more we learn of their agenda and see of their actions, the more their religion goes all fun-house mirror. Backward, forward, upside down. Christianity, you say? These people take to the streets to deny women their rights and LGBTQ people theirs — fundamental rights, life, liberty, etc., while displaying total indifference to our cruel treatment of immigrant families and children, not to mention stupid environmental and foreign policies that put us all in danger.

Nothing in all that that evokes anything of Christ or his teachings. Not, at least, that I can see.

If the religious right is, so to speak, thumbing its collective nose at the Sermon on the Mount — which in my opinion, is more or less what they’re doing — what’s in it for them, claiming to be Christian?
