- North Idaho College’s Adult Education centers are accepting new students. The free classes prepare students to take the GED battery of tests. Classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 3. Centers are located in Coeur d’Alene, Sandpoint, Kellogg, and Bonners Ferry. Students create an education plan with an adviser. No charge. Info: 208-665-5099.

- The Civic Engagement Alliance is hosting a #CivicEngageCDA Launch Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 19 in the Art Spirit Gallery. See a glimpse of the vision of the organization and enjoy wine, hors d’oeuvres and music. The Civic Engagement Alliance’s mission is to generate grassroots community engagement for the common good. - Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said 12 phone companies and a coalition of 51 attorneys general have agreed to adopt eight principles to fight illegal robocalls. The agreement will help protect phone users from illegal robocalls and make it easier to investigate and prosecute bad actors. Participating companies include AT&T and Verizon.

- The public is invited to attend two Saturday performances of the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Jack and the Beanstalk.” The production, comprised of local actors, will be at 3 and 5:30 p.m. at the New Life Community Church, 6068 W. Hayden Ave, Rathdrum. Tickets are $5 and available at the door.
