- Bonners Ferry resident Mary Friedmann Berges recounts her story of loss and love in her new memoir, “Finding the Light Within: My Journey of Healing After the Holocaust.” Berges will read an excerpt and sign copies of her book at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at The Well-Read Moose, 2048 N. • Residents who oppose the Idaho Department of Correction’s plans for a community re-entry center in North Idaho with funds that were approved during the last Legislature will hold a meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Athol Community Center, 30355 N. Third St. Four Republican candidates for Kootenai County sheriff will share their views.
- Gov. Brad Little hired two full-time field directors to enhance communication and outreach efforts between his office and Idahoans. Jake Garringer will serve as field director in North Idaho. Emma Johnson will serve as field director in eastern Idaho. Garringer is a former program coordinator for CDA 2030. Johnson is a former government affairs intern at Boise-based Veritas Advisors.
