Welcome back, Cardinals

| August 19, 2019 10:27 PM

COEUR d’ALENE — The Cardinals have returned to campus.

The 2019-2020 fall semester began Monday at North Idaho College. To help students feel more at home at their new home away from home, the college traditionally hosts a Week of Welcome, including the Day of Welcome.

The fair-themed Day of Welcome picnic and games will be taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today in the Edminster Student Union.

"The Day of Welcome offers a variety of college resources, like clubs and organizations, a venue so they can introduce themselves and interact with students in a fun atmosphere," NIC communications coordinator Tom Greene said. "It’s also when we take the annual all-student photograph, at 11:50 a.m., and there will be a picnic, games and prizes."

Campus resources will be available for students as they find their way around. The public is welcome to attend, though Week of Welcome events are intended for students. Hundreds of students are expected to participate each day.

"Throughout the week, they can check out the climbing wall at the Student Wellness and Recreation Center, Family Day at the NIC Beach, and a ton of other engaging events," Greene said.

The Tie Dye Splash at the Sunspot will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday on the NIC Beach featuring food, tie-dying and games. The climbing wall in the Student Wellness and Recreation Center will be open noon to 3 p.m. Thursday followed by orb ball chaos on the green space at 6 p.m. Family Beach Day will be on the NIC Beach from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
