Save your health and your savings account: Get ahead of your symptoms

| August 14, 2019 1:00 AM

The exorbitant health care costs of our nation are no secret. According to the Center for Disease Control, average health care expenditures per-person were $10,000 on average in 2015, amounting to $3.2 trillion or almost 18% of the United States GDP. Also according to the CDC, chronic diseases that are avoidable through preventive care account for about 75% of US health care expenditures. Without diagnostics like blood work or other medical testing, symptoms are the first warning signs of the deeper imbalances that lead to health problems. Unfortunately, by the time you first begin experiencing symptoms, you have likely been in a state of dysfunction for quite some time. One of the biggest challenges in health care right now is convincing individuals of the benefits of preventive care and the importance of addressing their symptoms as soon as they arise.

When we first start to experience a problem, that is our sign to get care NOW! When new symptoms start popping up, it isn’t the first sign of a problem, it is actually a sign that your body has been struggling to compensate for imbalances or deficiencies for a while. An analogy that I think works great for this is the workplace: If a coworker calls in sick at work, the team can usually pick up enough slack to finish what needs to be done. However, if you have two or three or more people down for the count, some things are going to start falling through the cracks unless you call in for backup or everyone works overtime. Your body is much like this team — it is very adaptable, but there is a breaking point where all of your systems no longer have the flexibility or the resources to compensate, and that is when symptoms start to show up.

Pursuing medical care when your symptoms first show up typically enables faster progress and thus it is almost always less costly. The body is an incredibly complex set of interconnected systems. By allowing symptoms to linger and fester, we are allowing dysfunction of a certain set of systems to become more deep-seated, which often leads to collateral damage and further dysfunction and dysregulation of other bodily systems. The longer we wait, the more we end up in a situation where we have to peel back the layers one at a time. These layers can often get obscured amongst one another, and the healing process can sometimes get complicated as a result. With each of our new patients, we do a complete bio-functional analysis to delve into the underlying causes of conditions and begin treating these deeper layers as soon as possible. This allows us to create more effective treatment plans for a variety of conditions from the simple to the complex.

This Thursday, Aug. 15, we are offering a select few the opportunity to receive a complimentary consultation and acupuncture treatment. Get your questions answered. Give us a call at 208-765-1994 to secure your spot!
