HUMANE: Note the big difference

The recent support of our community to help fund construction of the new Kootenai Humane Society shelter is very commendable and is in line with the generous culture we have in North Idaho. However, it needs to be known that the Humane Society of the United States does not run local shelters and is an aggressive anti-hunting group.

The Humane Society of the United States has more than $284 million in assets and spent more than $43 million in 2018 on fundraising. The organization preys on the emotions of good people to donate to something they might not fully understand they are donating to. Past HSUS CEO Wayne Pacelle has said, “We want to stigmatize hunting, we see it as the next logical target and we believe it is vulnerable,” and has called hunters being injured by wildlife a “rare instance of justice.”
