LEVIES: Real problems, wrong answers
Attention local property owners. I see another group of school levies coming up in our future, replacing asphalt parking lots in area schools. I’ve gone by a number of area schools and see parking lots deteriorating pretty badly. It’s a shame that these asphalt areas have been allowed to get in such a sorry state! Preventative maintenance looks like it has not been done very much. Basic maintenance is much cheaper than replacing asphalt.
Idaho has 44 counties, a little over 1.6 million state population and 115 public school districts. A total rip-off to taxpayers. There needs to be no more than one public school district per county; cut their excessive pork. Wake up Idaho! Allow only one school district per county. Stop the rip-off to property owners. Seniors should be exempt from school taxes, especially if they don’t have children in public schools. Expand charter schools.
