Kenneth Louis Tschetter, 92

Kenneth Louis Tschetter, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2019, and is now with our Lord in Heaven.

Ken was born on Jan. 7, 1927, in Spirit Lake, Idaho. There, he met and wed Bernadine, who he was happily married to for 57 years until her passing in 2010. In 1953, Ken and Bernadine moved to Alaska, where they began their lovely family of seven daughters.

Ken’s years in Alaska were spent working as a government inspector for Fort Richardson. Drawn by his love for adventure and the outdoors, he embraced all that Alaska had to offer, which included fishing, hunting and camping. After 17 years, he moved his family to Spokane, in 1969, and worked as an electrician. Ken and Bernadine continued to raise their family while they frequently enjoyed time at his childhood home in Spirit Lake.

Blessed with a kind and compassionate heart, Ken was known to always lend a helping hand to anyone in need, doing so with an infectious smile that spread to all he met. He will be remembered for his wonderful personality that lit up the room, his jokes for days, and he always carried a happy tune!

Ken is preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine; his parents, Ethel and Jakob Tschetter; as well as his sister, Lorraine and granddaughter, Lucy.

He is survived by his sister, Geraldine and her husband, John Wiess; as well as his seven daughters; his sons-in-law; 20 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dad, Dutch, Chief, Grandpa, and Big Papa ... We love you more!

The family would like to thank the staff of Valley Pines Retirement and Kindred Hospice for the heartfelt care they gave to Kenneth.

A memorial service will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, at 8002 W. Spirit Lake Road, Spirit Lake, Idaho.
