Coeur d'Alene Little League falls short of return to Williamsport

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — So close.
Coeur d’Alene’s run toward a second-straight trip to the Little League World Series came up short, losing 5-4 to Salem (Ore.) in the Northwest Regional championship game on Saturday afternoon.
On Thursday, Salem defeated Coeur d’Alene 8-5 in a semifinal game. Coeur d’Alene advanced to the championship with a 14-9 win over Bothell on Friday.
Salem faces the Mid-Atlantic champion on Friday at 5 p.m. to open up play at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
