- The next arm-wrestling competition in the North Idaho Stronghold Iron Arm Series will take place Aug. 24. Men’s and women’s classes, each arm. Entrance fee is $15 per class entered. Mandatory weigh-in at 10:30 a.m. The competition starts at 11 a.m. Cash prizes for winners. RSVP on the North Idaho Stronghold Facebook page.

- Birds of Prey Northwest is raising funds to build a raptor center. A storm last month damaged an aviary, causing immense damage and forcing the removal of three owls. Info: www.gofundme.com/f/raptor-center-project

- Spirit Lake Police and Newport Roxy Theatre will present the free movie “Incredibles 2” at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Spirit Lake City Park. Food and snacks will be available for purchase. Residents are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs and leave their dogs at home.
