SOUZA: Right about initiatives

Sen. Mary Souza made some valid points during the Reclaim Idaho Town Hall meeting. I strongly support her position of making our initiative laws better. She suggests to inform us, the citizen and taxpayers, about what the initiative will do and what it will cost the taxpayer. I am also concerned about out-of-state funding for an initiative. Apparently Proposition 2 was helped over the finish line with high tech political experts from back east with digital know how and $500,000. That should have never happened, because an Idaho initiative should be funded and organized by Idahoans only.

Because of Prop 2, the taxpayers of Idaho are now stuck with paying for other people’s health coverage. Our Founding Fathers intended for us to be self-reliant and to look within ourselves to improve our lives.
