CATALDO - The CCC Fire has grown to more than 425 acres and is 0 percent contained, Idaho Department of Lands officials said this morning.
The fire is just north of Cataldo.
More than 200 firefighters are battling the blaze, with more arriving, said IDL spokesperson Jennifer Russell.
“The fire is burning in rugged, steep terrain with mixed conifer fuels and heavy logging slash,” Russell wrote in a press release. “Where extreme fire behavior and conditions prohibit the ability to attack the fire directly, work will continue indirectly by creating fuel breaks through hazardous fuel removal along accessible routes.
Russell added that even with temperatures dropping and rain forecast today, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect because of windy conditions.
