- Coeur d’Alene’s comic and pop culture convention, Coeur d’Con, is returning to the Coeur d’Alene Public Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 17. Cosplay, contests, live-action role play, artists, vendors and more will be a part of the geek culture celebration. Free to attend. All ages welcome.

- “Traditions of Christmas,” a Radio City Music Hall-style show, needs 70 local singers between 8 and 80. Auditions are 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 18, 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 19 and 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 28 at Expressions School of Performing Arts in Post Falls. Backstage help and seamstresses are also needed. - Spirit Lake Library will be closed Aug. 16 and 17 as construction work is completed.

- The Hayden Area Regional Sewer Board has firewood for sale. The board, which grows aspen trees at its tree farm along Boekel Road, harvests the trees periodically and invites residents who want firewood to cut their own for free. A permit and waiver is required and available at 10789 N. Atlas Road.
