ADDICT: Hear my apologies
My name is Jason Smith. I am an addict currently incarcerated at the Kootenai County Jail. I’m not even sure if this letter will even be printed since I’m not spitting an opinion or complaining about something within our community. I’m not really sure how to start this letter, but here we go.
I want to apologize to our entire community for decisions that I’ve made while under the influence of meth. I will not use my addiction as an excuse for the poor decisions I’ve made that have led me to be where I am at now. It certainly has not helped, but still my choices have always been my choices. I also want to say I’m sorry to all of my friends that have left and all of the ones that have stuck by my side.
I really want to apologize to my family that I have put through the ringer, time and time again. Thank you for sticking by my side. To the one that unconditionally stands by my side, thank you and I love you very much — we will get through this.
To all my fellow suffering addicts, we are smart, we are strong, don’t give up the fight. To all that love, fight and struggle with us, don’t give up just yet. We all want to make it back home to you, it just takes some of us longer to learn what’s really important to us. Stay strong, push forward, love yourself.
