Three summer favorites will converge this weekend in Coeur d’Alene. Art on the Green, the annual Downtown Street Fair, and Taste of Coeur d’Alene will tantalize taste buds and appeal to art and music lovers Friday through Sunday.

On the grounds of North Idaho College, Art on the Green will feature more than 160 artist booths, including 61 new artists from around the region, showcasing handcrafted works in glass, clay, leather, wood, metal, fiber and other mediums.

Children can create their own special art in the Children’s Art Garden; materials and instruction are provided.

Meanwhile, adults can get a taste for “liquid art” in the Beer and Wine Garden, featuring locally crafted beer, wine and hard cider, or get food and drink from a variety of booths all weekend long.

This year’s entertainment lineup includes artists who have never before appeared at Art on the Green. Live music ranges from jazz to bluegrass and beyond.

Street parking is available for Art on the Green. North Idaho College has also provided free parking in the campus lots.

Bicycles cannot be ridden on the campus lawns. However, bike racks are available next to the Student Union Building.

STREET FAIR

In the heart of Cd’A, the 28th annual Downtown Street Fair will be in full swing along Sherman Avenue.

“We have a lot of new vendors this year,” Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association events coordinator Emily Boyd said. “People will see a big variety.”

More than 250 vendors are featured this year, including many downtown businesses that will have booths near their storefronts.

The street fair is accessible and stroller-friendly.

A free shuttle bus runs between the Street Fair and Art on the Green every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday. The shuttle stops at the Student Union on the NIC campus and goes to the south side of Sherman on Third Street.

TASTE OF COEUR d’ALENE

This year marks the 32nd Taste of Coeur d’Alene. The festival showcases fine arts and crafts in Coeur d’Alene City Park, including live music, children’s activities and a beer garden featuring local microbrews. Admission is free to the public.

Art on the Green is open from noon to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday.
