How much is a free event worth?

COEUR d'ALENE — Local musician Adam Foote said he was "flabbergasted" when he saw Facebook posts of people selling tickets to his performance at Art on the Green on Friday.

Foote, who uses the stage name Ethereal in E and plays a steel drum called a hardpan, alerted his social media followers on Wednesday that the posts are a scam because his performance, along with all the others during the arts showcase at North Idaho College, are free.

"You know you've made it big when people try selling tickets to your free event," Foote joked in an online comment.

Neither local law enforcement agencies nor the Citizen Council for the Arts, the nonprofit that organizes Art on the Green, had heard of other scams involving musicians at the event.

"I hope that it doesn't go anywhere because the music is free," said Anne Solomon, the nonprofit's treasurer.

Foote said the posts were made by "Jenifer Clark" on Sunday and "Mujaheed Musa" on Wednesday.

Clark wrote that she couldn't use her four electronic tickets due to a change in schedule. Musa wrote he had three tickets at an "affordable" price.

Foote said both posts were deleted after he sent them a message inquiring why they were selling tickets to a free event. However, Foote took screenshots of the post first and posted those on his Facebook page to alert his followers.
