Legislator to speak at Democracy Dinner
COEUR d'ALENE — The 2019 North Idaho Democracy Dinner hosted by the Kootenai County Democratic Central Committee will be held at the Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn, 506 W. Appleway Ave., on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
The event will feature keynote speaker Idaho Rep. Steve Berch, D-Boise.
Prior to his election to the Legislature, Berch had a 37-year association with Hewlett Packard, working in Information Systems, leading marketing programs, conducting strategic planning processes and leading several global customer relationship management initiatives.
Berch will share his long but successful journey to the Legislature.
He first ran in 2010, receiving 32.2 percent of the vote. He ran again in 2012, 2014, and 2016, steadily increasing his percentage of votes to 49.2 percent. In 2018 he received 54.5 percent of the vote against a Republican incumbent. Berch took the oath of office for District 15 House Seat A on Dec. 6, 2018, and serves on the Education, Business and Local Government committees.
The Democracy Dinner will also include silent auction items, as well as an award ceremony for the annual Art Manley Lifetime Achievement and Rising Star recipients.
