Cardinals split, fall out of East lead

WENATCHEE, Wash. — Lake City High product Bailey Cavanagh hit a two-run double in the second inning, then hit a three-run home run in the third to power North Idaho College past the Wenatchee Valley Knights 21-2 in the first game of a Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday.

In the nightcap, Kailey Sanford hit a walkoff two-run home run as Wenatchee Valley beat NIC 4-3 to get a split. The Knights (18-9, 18-6 NWAC) moved into first place in the East Region with the win.

Jori Kerr had two hits and five RBIs and Emma Profili had three hits and three RBIs for NIC in the first game.

Madi Mott homered twice in the nightcap for NIC (21-9, 15-5), which faces Columbia Basin in a doubleheader today in Pasco, Wash., starting at noon.
