Devonna ‘Dee’ Jean Eatherton, 76

On April 21, 2019, Devonna Jean Eatherton was called home to be with our Lord on her 76th birthday. Her biggest joy in life was her family, whom she enjoyed being wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt to.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard Eatherton Sr.; sister, Kay Quinn; son and partner, Richard Eatherton Jr. and Al Lozano; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Ron Halcovich; grandchildren, Matt and Sara Eatherton, Tara Cornwell, Travis and Molly Cornwell and Tyler Halcovich; and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Corbin, Leah and Waylon, in addition to countless nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne and daughter, Clara.

Dee was born on April 21, 1943, to Ralph and (Helen) Olvia Putnam in Rapid City, S.D.

The youngest of three children, she grew up in Quinn, S.D., where she attended Quinn High School and graduated in June 1961. That summer her roommate showed her a picture of her brother, Richard, in his Navy uniform and she told her she was going to marry him — and she did, on Dec. 17th of the same year. Over the next few years, their family grew and in 1973 they moved to Post Falls, Idaho.

Dee loved helping other people and earned her CNA degree. Dee’s kind heart and compassion served her well as an assistant activities director at a local nursing home and then, later, with young adults with special needs. Dee was active in various organizations including 4-H and Grange for a number of years. She had a very big heart and touched the hearts of those who knew her. Her kindness and light will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, ID 83854, with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Please visit Dee’s online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com and leave a message of condolence. English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls has been entrusted with arrangements.
