COEUR d’ALENE — Hailey Lyons hit a three-run homer in each game to propel the Coeur d’Alene Vikings to a sweep of the Post Falls Trojans in 5A Inland Empire League softball play Saturday at Larry Schwenke Field.

Coeur d’Alene won 8-1 and 9-4.

Lyons finished 3 for 3 with four RBIs in the first game for Coeur d’Alene (7-2, 4-2 5A IEL). Halle Kane hit a two-run single in the second inning for the Vikings, and Alexis Blankenship drove in two runs, one with a fifth-inning double.

Natalie Sell struck out 14 and scattered five hits in the opener, and the lone run by Post Falls (7-6, 1-5) was unearned.

“Natalie pitched what could have been her best game of the year,” Coeur d’Alene coach Bobbi Darretta said. “The entire team played great behind her, got some timely hits and just worked really well as a team. We were able to string some hits together. I was really happy with how our team played today.”

In the second game, Lyons expanded a 6-4 Viking lead with her three-run shot in the sixth. Sell also added a solo homer.

Kahlea Dumas went 2 for 3 and scored two runs in the nightcap for Post Falls.

Coeur d’Alene plays host to Lake City on Tuesday in a 5A IEL doubleheader.
