Packer to speak to KC Republican Women

| April 20, 2019 1:00 AM

Kelley Packer, bureau chief for Idaho’s Bureau of Occupational Licensing, will speak May 2 at the Kootenai County Republican Women’s meeting and the public is invited to attend.

The lunch meeting will be at The Coeur d’Alene Resort at noon. The cost to attend is $20 and reservations are requested. To reserve a seat, call 208-659-3432.

Packer, who was recently appointed to her position by Gov. Brad Little, will speak about the legislative process, how a bill is passed in Idaho and about her new appointment and the responsibilities she’ll oversee in the upcoming months.

Packer has been tasked with helping her 29 boards and commissions complete full reviews of their laws and rules, with the intent to maintain public safety while reducing regulations and barriers to licensing.

Prior to her current position, Packer worked full-time as an office manager for a sports medicine facility in Pocatello and also for the past six years as a representative in the Idaho House.

She has also served as a city councilwoman, as chairman of the Bannock County Republicans, as president of the Marsh Valley Education Committee, as a board member for Your Health Idaho (Idaho’s insurance exchange), as the legislative liaison for IFRW for 6 years, and for a short time as IFRW’s President.

Packer is married with four children and three grandchildren.

At the May 2 meeting, Packer will speak about the legislative process, how a bill is passed in Idaho, as well as about her new appointment and the responsibilities that come with it. She welcomes questions and is looking forward to having a robust discussion about these topics.
