COEUR d’ALENE — The Lake City girls and Coeur d’Alene boys won team titles at Monday’s Lake City Invitational at the Coeur d’Alene Golf Club.

Kyla Currie shot an 84 to lead Lake City to an eight-shot victory in the girls tournament.

Lake City totaled 362. Lewiston was second at 370. Currie finished second in the individual standings, behind Moscow’s Makena Rauch, who shot a 78 on the par-72 course.

“The girls played great today,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “Kyla was steady as always and Jojo Dodge has been a great addition to the team this year. This was our first tournament win of the year so I hope it gives the girls a lot of confidence moving forward.”

Martina Hicks shot a 92 to lead the Coeur d’Alene girls team, which took fourth place.

- Coeur d’Alene’s boys team won the team title by 10 strokes over the host Timberwolves, with Jackson Davenport (75) and Wyatt Williams (76) leading the Vikings.

“The girls team is getting a lot better and cut 20 strokes off their previous score (at Pullman Invitational),” Coeur d’Alene coach Bryan Duncan said. “All the freshmen are starting to figure it out. I was real proud of Jackson (Davenport) and Wyatt (Williams), and our youngsters are starting to come through.”

Lake City’s Cameron Johnson shot a 2-under-par 70 to earn boys medalist honors, and the T-Wolves finished second among six teams. Ryan Chapman was close behind with a 73.

“I was very proud of how we competed today,” Lake City boys coach Troy Anderson said. “Our short game was much improved throughout the day. Cameron was dialed in from the start and Ryan Chapman put up an impressive number as well for us.”

Coeur d’Alene will host the Kraus Invitational on Friday, with the boys playing at Avondale Golf Club and the girls at Hayden Lake Country Club starting at 9 a.m.

Coeur d’Alene 10, Asotin 0

COEUR d’ALENE — Patient hitting and strong baserunning helped the host Vikings pile up runs, and pitchers Natalie Sell and Madie Cleave did the rest in a nonconference shutout of Asotin.

After Sell threw three shutout innings, Cleave faced seven hitters and allowed one hit and one walk over two innings.

“Considering it was her first time on the mound, I was very happy with the way Madie pitched,” CHS coach Bobbi Darretta said. “And our catcher, Hailey Lyons, threw the ball well and was very aggressive with pickoffs and throwing out baserunners from behind the plate.”

Mary Comack had two hits and an RBI for the Vikings (3-2), who host 5A Inland Empire League foe Lewiston in a doubleheader today.

Coeur d’Alene 10, Asotin 0

COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Colt Rowley threw a 3-hit shutout, and the Vikings used a six-run fourth inning to take control in a nonconference win over the visiting Panthers.

Jake Brown had two hits and scored three runs for Coeur d’Alene (9-1), while Alex Karns had a double among his two hits and two RBIs.

“We faced a pretty good pitcher (David Fry) and didn’t get off to the fast start like we wanted, but our guys had good at-bats and eventually wore him down,” Vikings coach Nick Mahin said. “And Colt Rowley gave us a very effective start, limiting them to three hits and pitching efficiently. We turned two double plays behind him ... it was a good team win.”

Seniors Noah Mayfield, Quinton Bunch and Carter Friesz all knocked in two runs for the Vikings, who host Lewiston at 2 p.m. today in a 5A IEL doubleheader.
