RATHDRUM — First Jackson Scherr tied it in the sixth inning.

Then, he put Lake City ahead to stay in the seventh.

Scherr had two hits and drove in three runs — the final two on a single in the seventh inning — as Lake City held off Lakeland 6-4 at Gorton Field on Thursday.

Marcus Manzardo had an RBI single in the third inning for Lake City (3-3), which is scheduled to host Coeur d’Alene in a doubleheader today starting at 2 p.m.

Cameron Harris had two RBIs for Lakeland (1-7-2), which hosts Sandpoint in a doubleheader on Monday starting at 3 p.m.

“We played outstanding baseball for the first four innings,” Lakeland coach Jason Bradbury said. “Everything as working. We were hitting in key situations, our pitching was great, and the kids made every defensive play. Then, we just couldn’t finish and close the door. Give credit to Lake City. They kept battling the whole game and had some key at bats when they needed them.”
