STAR: Clues about the card

There are a lot of questions about the STAR card. Most people have no clue about it.

Here’s what you need to take with you to the DMV: original birth certificate, SS card, tax bill with your name on it, any other bill with your name on it.

I brought all of these things and was DENIED! Why? Because my birth name is slightly different than the name I use. So beware of that! Even if the name on your driver’s license, tax bills, SS card is all the same, if it doesn’t match your birth certificate, they won’t give you a STAR CARD.

I went and ordered a passport and had no problem, so I’ll just carry that everywhere. I’m not changing my name on everything to match my name on my birth certificate, a name I have never gone by!
