POST FALLS — For some, it was exactly what they’ve been waiting for since the start of spring practice.

Getting outside.

“For a lot of the kids, it was their first or second time outside this spring,” said Post Falls coach Wade Quesnell, whose school hosted a dual with Lake City and Moscow on Tuesday. “For the jumpers, this was the first time they’ve been able to get outside this year and actually do some stuff.”

Lake City junior Jacob Schnatter had wins in the 100, 200, 400 and 4x400 relay.

“He’s a good athlete,” Quesnell said. “He had a really nice day and ran really well.”

Post Falls senior Tyler Trengove won the high jump, triple jump and long jump.

“Tyler had a really good day,” Quesnell said. “For this time of the year, his marks were really good.”

Post Falls freshman Samantha Wood set a school record in the 1,600, winning in 5 minutes, 16.06 seconds.

“Samantha ran a really good race,” Quesnell said. “Our middle distance kids did a really good job today.”

Both Lake City and Post Falls will compete in the Kootenai County Challenge at Timberlake High on Friday.
