The Renaissance at Coeur d'Alene launches expansion

COEUR d’ALENE — The Renaissance at Coeur d’Alene has broken ground on a new building that will increase the assisted living community’s capacity from 64 to 80 units. The Renaissance, an assisted living community, was acquired in July by Radiant Senior Living. Radiant owns and operates 19 assisted living communities in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Colorado and Montana.
The new building, named Chateau Rochelle, is the fifth chateau at The Renaissance. The assisted living campus is nestled on 5.7 wooded acres off St. Michelle Drive, near Woodland Middle School and adjacent to the Prairie Trail.
“We wanted to take some steps to meet the increasing need for housing and health care options for seniors in the area,” said James Guffee, president and CEO of Radiant Senior Living. “We are thrilled at the progress of the construction so far, and we are looking forward to its completion in January.”
Like the other buildings at The Renaissance at Coeur d’Alene, Chateau Rochelle’s architecture and interior designs will be in the French chateau-style.
When construction of Chateau Rochelle is complete, the building will be licensed for 16 residents and will have approximately 7,300 square feet of resident living area. The Renaissance is working on the project with Glauser Construction, the local builder of the other chateaus on the campus.
“We’re very excited about the expansion,” said Tina Mouser, executive director at The Renaissance.
That excitement is shared by the staff and the people who call The Renaissance home.
“The residents will go out on the patio and sit and watch the construction. They’ve been doing that since the groundbreaking,” Mouser said.
Part of the excitement for people already living at The Renaissance is wondering who will live in Chateau Rochelle and become their new neighbors.
The expansion will provide existing residents with more opportunities to build friendships and socialize, Mouser said.
“I came from a single-building facility and I think, with multiple buildings, The Renaissance feels more homelike,” she said. “You’re in houses. It’s more personable.”
The residents often visit neighboring buildings to participate in fun activities with their friends.
“It’s like you’re going to visit someone in their home,” Mouser said. That homelike ambiance extends beyond the buildings at The Renaissance.
“I think we have a really caring, loving team here that becomes a family with the residents,” Mouser said. “That’s important to us because the residents’ own families and loved ones are trusting us to care for them.”
The Renaissance is currently taking names to be added to its waitlist for the apartments in Chateau Rochelle.
