David Klaw
Dave passed away due to complications of having ALS on Sept. 25, 2018.
Dave was born on March 25, 1948, to Clarence and LaVerne Klaw in Chicago, Ill. Dave grew up in Homewood, Ill. In 1969 he married Betty Marcenkus and they had three children. In 1973 they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Dave worked for the U.S. Forest Service for five years, 28 years in the logging industry as a timber faller, and 12 years in noxious and invasive weed control.
After Betty and Dave divorced he married Judy Moratto. They divorced in 2014. In 2015 he met Candy Lattin and she has been his companion since.
Among Dave’s favorite activities over the years has been gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking into mountain lakes, playing softball, ice hockey and golf. He enjoyed vacationing throughout the American West, Hawaii and Mexico.
Dave is survived by his companion, Candy; son, Michael Klaw from Arvada, Colo.; daughters, Marilyn Klaw-Foti and Michelle (Casey) Samuels of Coeur d’Alene; sister, Janet (Tom) Hahn of Mokena, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Judy Klaw.
Dave enjoyed working to make life nicer and happier for others. Although he often appeared grumpy or serious, he really enjoyed joking around and laughing. His idols growing up were the Three Stooges.
Dave wants to thank all those that were a part of his life for making it such a fun and interesting experience.
A celebration of life event is planned, from 1 to 3 p.m., for Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at the Trailhead Event Center, Q’Emiln Park, 12201 W. Parkway Drive, in Post Falls, Idaho.
