CANDIDATE: Not a Democrat

This is an alert to all voters in the November election from the Kootenai County Democrats. While we do have two legitimate and worthy candidates running in Legislative District 2 (Dale Broadsword for State Senate and Maria Andrews for State Representative, Position A), once again, we have a “fake Democrat” running for office in District 2 for State Representative Position B, Alanna Brooks.

Despite the fact that she was fairly chosen, she is not a Democrat. We, as an organization, have tried multiple times and ways to contact her to get to know her; however, she did not respond to any of our overtures, even a handwritten invitation to talk over coffee. She is not known in any Democratic organization in the area. Our only record of her is that she was “strongly opposed” to one of our local candidates in District 2. In addition, her campaign has struggled with being compliant with filing financial disclosures with the Idaho Secretary of State.

Consequently, the Kootenai County Democratic Central Committee is going on record as not only NOT endorsing her as a candidate for State Representative in Legislative District 2, but strongly opposing her. We are not endorsing either candidate in that particular race.

We not only care that people vote, but we also want our voters to make informed votes. Please research the candidates, attend the Coeur d’Alene Press Candidate Forum at 6 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Coeur d’Alene Library Community Room and, for our country’s sake, be sure to vote.
