BRANNON: For county clerk

Jim Brannon has been a great Kootenai County Clerk. His greatness lies in the fact that no one who knows him would call him great. He is a charming but unassuming man who does not steal the spotlight. Jim needs no fanfare and he builds no cult of personality. He just quietly does his job with competence and no melodrama.

It is pricelessly rare to find an elected official who is genuinely there to use his talents to serve dutifully, rather than feed his ego or make a bigger name for himself. Jim is this; a hard working and skillful quiet man of action. I measure his success by what we do not read in this paper. The Clerk’s Office under Jim Brannon is not a source of news because it is focused on serving the public, rather than bolstering the reputation of its administrator.

Jim has made enemies in our service; empire-building bureaucrats, narcissistic civil servants and popinjay politicians who warp public trust to serve their own vainglorious ambition. Jim is already fulfilling his vocation; inconspicuously doing his duty by us as County Clerk. I am proud to be voting to re-elect Jim Brannon, Republican, as Kootenai County Clerk.
