TRUMP: Electoral issue unsettled
Clearly, Mary Smith shows in her letter to The Press, Sept. 14, earnest belief that the Electoral College did the job required of it in the 2016 election and she explains in detail why and how that’s so. But so what? It’s a non sequitur. It doesn’t follow, as she seems to think, that Donald Trump thereby won the election legally or that his legitimacy is beyond question. She doesn’t make that case.
In fact, there are plenty of questions. Months before the election took place, Rolling Stone magazine in its Aug. 20, 2016, issue carried a piece by investigative reporter Greg Palast, “The GOP’s Stealth War Against Voters.”
For some time now there’s been all kinds of antidemocratic stuff going on throughout this country: gerrymandering, outrageous voter ID laws, wholesale purging of voter rolls, suppression of votes in every way imaginable. What’s going on? The corruption uncovered in the The Rolling Stone piece should come as no surprise.
Get mad. Check it out. It’s on the web.
