Grove two shots back after first round of PNW PGA Professional Championship
RICHLAND, Wash. — North Idaho College golf coach Russell Grove shot a 5-under-par 67 and is two strokes off the pace after the first round of the Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship on Tuesday at Meadow Springs Country Club.
Grove and Brian Nosler of Loose Cannon Golf Studio in Portland are tied for second. Shane Prante of The Home Course in DuPont, Wash, shot a 7-under 65 for the first-round lead.
The 54-hole tournament continues today and concludes Thursday.
The top seven professionals will earn a spot and advance directly to the 2019 PGA Professional Championship at Belfair on Bluffton, S.C., April 28-May 1, 2019. The low 20 scores at the 2019 PGA Professional Championship will earn a place in the 101st PGA Championship at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y., May 13-19, 2019.
EWU women win golf tourney
at Cd’A Resort Course
COEUR d’ALENE — The Eastern Washington University women’s golf team shot a two-day total of 593 (296-297) for a 17-stroke victory at The Challenge, hosted by the Eagles at The Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course.
Kirsten Ishikawa (76-71) and Alexa Clark (71-76) of Eastern tied for first place at 3-over-par 147.
Montana State finished second (309-301—610), followed by Montana (317-301—618) and Idaho State (322-316—638).
