Shakeup at Jordan HQ no problem, says campaign

The Democratic Party’s nominee for governor, former Rep. Paulette Jordan, is confident that changes in her campaign staff less than two months from Election Day will be for the best, she said in a press release Saturday.

Her previous campaign manager Michael Rosenow, communications director Lisa Newcomb, and campaign event scheduler Leah Nemeroff resigned Friday, according to multiple media reports. The campaign staffers had signed nondisclosure agreements. The Jordan campaign said Rosenow and his staff had joined the Jordan campaign in July.

According to the Idaho Statesman, Nemeroff submitted a letter of resignation that simply said, “I’m so embarrassed and ashamed. Bye.”

The staffing shakeup was not the first for Jordan’s 2018 gubernatorial campaign. Jordan’s deputy campaign manager Emily Mowrer and field director Jennifer Martinez resigned just before the May 15 primary election. However, Jordan has hired four new staffers in the past two weeks, and anticipates more hires in the days to come, she said in the press release.

“Paulette Jordan believes that she needs a campaign manager who understands Idaho, its citizens and needs,” added the release. Nate Kelley is serving as interim campaign manager.

“We are excited about our new hires, and confident in the current leadership team,” Jordan said. “They understand Idaho’s issues and share my commitment to best serving each and every Idahoan. We look forward to bringing our message to Idaho voters as we campaign across the state from now until November 6.”

According to Don Day of BoiseDev.com, Jordan may attend a fundraiser in California today hosted by Hollywood celebrities Demi Moore, Norman Lear, and CNN commentator Van Jones with donations ranging from $500 to $5,000 each. In addition, the campaign release said Jordan will speak at the Affiliated Tribes of the Northwest Indians Annual Fall Convention on Sept. 17, visit Hewlett Packard in Boise on Sept. 19, and attend the City Club Forum in Idaho Falls on Sept. 20.
