Kiebert, Stevens lead Clark Fork past Lakeside

CLARK FORK — Ellie Kiebert had 19 kills and seven aces as the Clark Fork Wampus Cats beat the visiting Lakeside Knights for the second time in three days, 25-14, 23-25, 25-16, 25-12 in North Star League play on Saturday.

Brooke Stevens had 37 assists, five kills and two aces for Clark Fork (7-4, 3-0 NSL). Hailey Bristol added eight kills, six aces and five digs, Tessa Sutton had five kills, Sophie McMahon four kills, Ali Sutton six aces.

Clark Fork totaled 25 aces and only seven service errors in the match.

“The girls are moving more and picking up short balls that weren’t picked up last year,” Clark Fork coach Cindy Derr said. “They are working hard and the rewards are starting to show.”

Glory Olson had five aces and Alyssa SiJohn 23 assists for Lakeside (1-4, 0-3). Clark Fork swept Thursday’s match in Plummer.

“We were able to read their hitters a little better today,” Lakeside coach Brad Veile said. “We had some serve/receive issues today, but the girls played well today.”

Olson had four of her five aces in the second set for Lakeside, which travels to Mullan on Tuesday.

Clark Fork plays host to Wallace on Tuesday.

Lake City goes 4-1

at SunDome tourney

YAKIMA, Wash. — After breezing through pool play, the Lake City Timberwolves lost in the first round of bracket play to Lynden Christian, then beat Naches Valley to finish fifth in the 32-team SunDome Festival, played on eight courts inside the SunDome.

In pool play, Lake City defeated Orting 25-9, 25-19, Sunnyside 25-9, 25-8 and Charles Wright 25-14, 25-16.

In bracket play, Lake City lost to Lynden Christian 25-19, 25-23, then beat Naches Valley 25-13, 25-12 in its final match of the day.

“Respectable, but the girls are a little disappointed with not coming home with first place,” Lake City coach Mike Summers said. “Lynden Christian was aggressive and attacking, and we weren’t on our game 100 percent, the way we need to be to beat a team like that.”

Ashley Kaufman had 35 kills on the day for Lake City (10-1). Klaire Mitchell totaled 76 assists, Nellie Reese 22 assists. Janae Rayborn had more than 20 kills on the day, and Reilley Chapman totaled 41 digs.

Alexis Keylon had six aces vs. Sunnyside, Tanai Jenkins seven kills, Kiki Cates three aces vs. Charles Wright, Reese five aces, Kate DuCoeur five kills vs. Naches Valley.

Lake City travels to Lakeland on Tuesday.

Genesis Prep

POST FALLS — Josie Scribner had eight kills and six digs for the Jaguars, but the visiting Miners prevailed 25-17, 25-20, 25-17 in North Star League play at Post Falls Middle School.

Rachel Schroeder had seven digs, two blocks and two aces for Genesis Prep (1-2, 1-1 NSL), and Emily Martinez had 17 assists and four aces.

“Wallace started out strong, and had great serving,” Genesis Prep coach Paula Thurston said. “We struggled to get a good pass in serve receive.”

Genesis Prep travels to Kootenai on Tuesday.

N.I. Christian

wins 1, loses 1

PASCO, Wash. — The Royals fell to Country Christian of Pasco 25-15, 22-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-3 in a Mountain Christian League match.

Then, after their next opponent, Christian Heritage, canceled, Riverview Baptist of Pasco subbed in at the last minute and North Idaho Christian won that one, 25-11, 25-27, 25-19, 25-23.

Against Country Christian, Gabi Cavanaugh had six kills, Delaney LePard 10 digs and six aces for North Idaho Christian. Kaylee Prosch added 15 assists, Julia Haag four blocks.

Against Riverview Baptist, Layla Nordham had eight kills for the Royals, Cavanaugh four aces, LePard nine digs, Prosch 14 assists.

North Idaho Christian (2-3, 1-2 MCL) plays host to The Oaks on Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic School in Coeur d’Alene.
