Post Falls loses despite Gondo's three TDs
MOSES LAKE — Eli Gondo scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 4:40 remaining, but Post Falls came up just short in a 27-21 loss to the Moses Lake Chiefs on Friday night.
“We didn’t run the ball very much, but the times we did, Eli was very efficient and did a good job on the goal line,” said Post Falls coach Blaine Bennett of Gondo, who also had touchdown runs of 5 and 7 yards in the game. “We were on the short end of the scoreboard again, but it was a well played game. Moses Lake does a good job with their program.”
Post Falls recovered a fumble deep in Moses Lake territory and drove to its own 20-yard line with a minute remaining, but were unable to convert on a fourth down pass.
“It was a really close game,” Bennett said. “The skill level on both sides was pretty even. It was a good game to watch for sure.”
Post Falls (1-3) travels to Lakeland next Friday.

PLUMMER — Lazarus Iron Cloud threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Knights past the Spartans of Weippe in a 6-man game.
“Playing 6-man is a big adjustment,” Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. “You’ve got to play defense different, and everyone is an eligible receiver. Some plays we normally run don’t work, so there’s a lot of tiny things you’ve got to change.”
On point after touchdown attempts in 6-man football, teams are awarded one point for a run or pass, and two points for a kick.
Lakeside (1-3) returns to North Star League play at Kootenai next Friday.
“We were able to run the stuff we put in this week and able to play some other kids tonight,” Dohrman said. “It was a good night to play some football. It was a little different, but still football. Lazarus had a great game. It was a great team effort. With 6-man, it gives our linemen a chance to get to do something they don’t normally do. They can be part of the gameplan.”
Timberline is 0-3.
